Gene grew up on a farm south of Alpha helping his dad until he was drafted in 1961.  While serving his country he obtained the rank of Specialist E4 in heavy equipment.  In 1963 he was honorably discharged. Upon discharge he returned to Alpha Mn where he met his future wife, Theresa “Bonnie” LaVonne Ambrose.  Together they made Alpha, MN their home where they raised their son Michael. Gene and Bonnie lived in the home they purchased in 1965 until their move to Gold Finch Estates in May 2022.

Gene worked a variety of different jobs around Alpha Until settled with Cargill where he worked for 25 years.  Gene retired from Cargill in 2001.  After retirement he worked part time at Farmers CO-OP in Jackson,MN  and also worked for Danbred.

Gene was an avid fisherman and was very proud of his boat.  In his younger years he went on an annual trip to South Dakota to hunt Prairie dogs.  He also enjoyed model airplanes and wood working.  Gene loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren Tyler and Jacob.  Gene was excited when he found out he was going to be a great grandfather in Nov. 2023. Gene spent a lot of time helping his mother in-law, Anna Ambrose, in her later years, you would see them many Sundays driving in his blue Chevy Truck on their way to Jackson so she could attend church.  After he lost Bonnie he enjoyed spending a lot of time with his niece Tammy, who helped him with many things including Googling things about his favorite shows especially GunSmoke.

Gene was a man of few words but he was a humble man that looked out for and cared deeply for his family.
