JACKSON: A Mass of Christian Burial for Charles R. Svoboda, 81, of rural Jackson, will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 410 Broadway Avenue, Lakefield, Minnesota. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

Charles was called to his eternal rest on Saturday morning, May 17, 2025 at Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at the church on Wednesday.

Charles Roger Svoboda was born on September 23, 1943 at Jackson, Minnesota to Lawrence and Alma (Wilhelm) Svoboda. He attended and later graduated from Lakefield High School with the class of 1961. Charles attended business school for two years in Mankato and then returned to the family farm. He served in the National Guard. On August 14, 1965 he was united in marriage to Marjorie Zebedee at Jackson, Minnesota. Chuck farmed for many years with his brother, David in rural Jackson where they farmed corn and bean and had cattle. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lakefield and was a member of Knight’s of Columbus in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

He is survived by his brother, David and his wife, Sandee Svoboda of rural Jackson, Minnesota; sisters, Joanne (Stan) Sievert of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Janet Wicks of Spirit Lake, Iowa; nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Alma Svoboda; also Kami Svoboda and other relatives.
