Carole Ann Hansen

Carol was born on July 23, 1935, in Jackson, Minnesota. As the daughter of Garfield and Olive Paulson, Carole grew up on a farm in Bergen Township north of Jackson. She was the second of eight children. After graduating from Jackson High School, Carole would soon move to Portland, Oregon for a secretarial job. A sister's wedding would bring her back to Minnesota where she met the love of her life, Lowell. They would soon be married and she would begin her life as a farmer's wife, homemaker, and mother to Julie and Laurie.

Carole was the best wife, mother, and grandmother anyone could ask for. She worked tirelessly to help the farm operation run smoothly and fed countless men during the busy planting and harvest seasons. She tended beautiful vegetable gardens and was an expert baker. "Grammy's" homemade brownies coined her the nickname, "Grandma Brownie" and her pancakes were highly sought after. The plates were always licked clean when she made her Swedish meatballs at Christmas. All of her grandkids have special memories of their time spent with her. She adored each and every one of them and made a point to tell them that with a big hug every time she saw them.

As an avid cat lover, Carole had countless feline friends throughout her life and most recently enjoyed the love of her cat, Chloe. Carole relished spending every moment with her husband, Lowell. They rarely were seen apart and would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in July. While her later years made it difficult to get to activities and visits to Kansas City to see Laurie and her family, she loved FaceTiming and hearing about everything that was going on in their lives.

On March 21, 2024, Carole's long life of hard work and complete dedication to her family came to a peaceful end at the age of 88 after suffering the effects of a stroke.

Carole is survived by her husband, Lowell; daughters, Julie Schley (Mike Jacobsma) of Boyden, IA and Laurie (John) Riley of Overland Park, KS. Carole was also blessed with 6 grandchildren, Donny, Ellie, Garrett, Kate, Olivia, and Sophie, all of whom she cherished dearly.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Garfield and Olive Paulson; sister, Gloria and brother Garner.

While all of Carole's surviving family is devastated and permanently grieved by her passing, they find hope and comfort in their shared faith in Jesus. Carole firmly, deeply and passionately believed in the truth of the gospel and did all she could to reflect the love and light of Jesus in how she spent her days.
