Carey A. (Wieneke) Simmons
Carey Anne Simmons was born on June 10, 1976, in Adrian, Minnesota to Carl and Roberta (Kemper) Wieneke. She received her education through Adrian Public Schools, graduating from Adrian High School in the Class of 1994. Carey then lived in Jackson, while furthering her education at Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg, Iowa, where she received her RN degree. Carey began working at the Jackson Medical Center and nursing home. She continued to work as an RN at various healthcare facilities. Carey also was a volunteer EMT and a volunteer firefighter on the Jackson Fire Department.
Carey was a longtime, active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Jackson. She worked most recently as the Faith Formation Director at Good Shepherd Catholic Church and at The Coffee Nest in Jackson.
Carey had many enjoyments in life which included reading, crocheting, walks, sometimes with Marla, gardening, and coffee with friends. Carey was surrounded by a wonderful group of friends that loved and cared for each other. She loved her family and spending time with them.
On Sunday morning, November 13, 2022, Carey passed away unexpectedly in Fairmont, Minnesota at the age of 46 years.
Carey is survived by her two children, Brianna (Joe) Weber of Nicollet and Brigan McCarthy of Jackson; mother, Roberta Wieneke of Adrian; one sister, Bobbi (Wally) Habben of Round Lake; two nephews, Lee and Brody Habben; and many dear relatives and friends.
Carey was preceded in death by her father, Carl Wieneke.
