Workplace Injuries and Illnesses at All-Time Low Last Year in Minnesota

Thu 11-14-2024

The State of Minnesota saw a drop in workplace injuries and illnesses in 2023.

In fact, the Department of Labor and Industry reports the state experienced the lowest annual rate in those categories ever recorded.

Minnesota had an estimated 2.9 OSHA-recordable, nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses for every 100 full-time equivalent workers last year.  By comparison, the rate was 3.8 cases per 100 the year prior.

Commissioner Nicole Blissenbach says these survey results should serve as a good reminder about how important it is for workplaces to focus attention each day on safety and health programs that improve outcomes for workers, reduce preventable work-related injuries and illnesses
