Special Election Today to Fill Congressional Seat Once Held by Hagedorn

Tue 5-24-2022

(UNDATED)- Citizens in southern Minnesota’s First Congressional District are voting today on party nominees they hope will eventually serve out the rest of Jim Hagedorn’s term in office. The Republican from Blue Earth was serving his second term in Congress when he died of cancer in February. Among those seeking the G-O-P nomination are his widow, Jennifer Carnahan, along with fellow Republicans Jeremy Munson and Brad Finstad, and agriculture attorney Matt Benda. Former Hormel Foods C-E-O Jeffrey Ettinger is running unopposed for the D-F-L nod. The two nominees will face off on August Ninth, the same day as the regular party primaries that lead up to the November general election.

City Administrator Matt Skaret gave the information on how people can vote in this election...
