Senate to vote on funding bill for Minneapolis riots
(St. Paul, MN) -- It is expected the Republican-controlled state Senate will vote today on a bill to essentially force Minneapolis to pay outside law enforcement agencies for help they sent during last summer's riots. If the city did not pay the bill would strip Minneapolis of a potion of its state aid.
Proponents of the bill say the rest of the state shouldn't be responsible for consequences of local decisions made in Minneapolis. Some Twin Cities democrats counter it is the state's duty to make sure anyone who visits the Metro is safe.
