Remona Brown Sentenced in Medicaid Fraud Case
(Worthington, Mn.)-- The former operator of a home care nursing facility in Worthington has been sentenced to federal prison in a fraud case.
55-year-old Remona Brown, who's now from Michigan, formerly operated the Caring and Compassionate Healthcare Agency, which no longer exists. Brown was convicted in May of this year on several counts of aiding and abetting fraud for allegedly scamming Medicaid out of more than $1.8 million.
Brown received a seven year sentence. The first five years must be served in prison, with the balance consisting of supervised release, and was ordered to pay restitution.
Authorities say the money was deposited in bank accounts in Michigan controlled by Brown's family. They then sent the money back to Brown. The agency also had a location in Michigan
