(Estherville)-The Northwest Iowa Concert and Jazz Bands will perform Monday evening in Estherville. Reporter Becky Thoreson has details:
The Northwest Concert and Jazz Bands will present their holiday show Monday evening at the VFW in Estherville.
Concert Band Director Rich Nicklay says, the groups are comprised of musicians from a dozen counties in the area. “We have members that participate in our groups that come from up to 70 miles away. They enjoy making music, but also then, eventually being able to perform and share this music with our audience. So, for this holiday concert, I’ve chosen for the Concert Band, music that’s fun for them to practice, and then also for our audience members. very enjoyable to listen to. We’re going to a little bit of Italian dance music, weaved in with some New Orleans Jazz. We have a march, a traditional holiday tune, Ave Maria, and the Concert Band will be finishing with Sounds of Mannheim Steamroller. After that, the Jazz Band plays, and the Jazz Band, again, a wide variety of music. Both groups are sounding great. We’re looking forward to the concert.”
He notes that a meal will be offered prior to the show. “What’s special about this is that, the VFW will be serving burger baskets, either beef or pork, starting at 6 o’clock and going throughout the concert.”
The concert will start at 7:30 Monday night. Free will donations will be accepted.
