Minnesota House Votes to Legalize Marijuana

Fri 5-19-2023

(St. Paul, MN)- Recreational marijuana is one step closer to being legal in Minnesota. The mostly DFL House voted 73-to-57 to legalize pot for adults. The Senate could consider the bill as early as today. The measure allows Minnesotans 21 and older to buy up to two ounces of cannabis flower, eight grams of concentrate, and 800 milligrams worth of edible products at a time. If the bill passes Minnesota would be the 23rd state to legalize recreational marijuana.

This bill would allow marijuana use in Minnesota homes, home possession, and growing of the plant, which would all become legal as soon as August 1st. However retail sales at dispensaries could be a year away, at least 2024.
