Meals On Wheels Looks For Volunteers And Clients As COVID Pandemic Ends

Fri 5-19-2023

(Undated)- As the summer season starts arriving, there are more opportunities to spend time with your fellow citizens, and Meals on Wheels wants to remind everyone that they serve meals, have community nights, and always need drivers and volunteers to help out with their crucially important local program. Lizette Goddard with the program says the meals are made with love and care...

“Wonderful meals provided from our fresh kitchen in Lakefield, Minnesota. Wonderful cooks that are focused on providing a healthy meal, a dietary meal, needs are met by providing a fruit, a vegetable, a solid protein base, we're excited to be able to offer this product.”

They are always looking for volunteers to join the team, which may be as little of a commitment as thirty minutes now and again...

“We would be more than happy to deliver in Jackson. I drive to Alpha two times a week Tuesdays and Thursdays. Sherburn, if Sherburn is listening, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and again we do have a pop-up program where you can get a bag of ten meals in one shot. So 847-5884 we would love to have more on our client list, we would love to have occasional drivers, give me a call I can just use you on occasion. I don't need a huge commitment, but sometimes it's just 11:00 to 11:30 I don't use up more than half an hour of your time.”

Goddard says besides that meals program they also often meet for cards, bingo and other events, with special events on birthdays as well. She hopes that as COVID-19 ends that people will once again seek out their community and talk to Meals on Wheels at 507-847-5884.
