Man Near Sleepy Eye Arrested As Suspect In Algona Officer Murder Case

(Algona, IA)- A Wednesday fatal police shooting in Algona, Iowa has recently seen a man in southern Minnesota arrested as a suspect. Kyle Lou Ricke, age 43 was caught in Sleepy Eye is in custody at Brown County Jail.
Assisting in the arrest were the Minnesota State Patrol and the Iowa Department of Public Safety.
Ricke was at a relatives home in Leavenworth Township, arrested, and will be returned to Iowa to face charges of first-degree murder.
The incident was classified as a homicide arrest, sent in a public news release on Thursday morning.
The shooting has an ongoing investigation, and the status of the Algona police officer was withheld until 10 am on Thursday, when it was reported that Officer Kevin Cram passed away at the nearest trauma hospital, with unsurvivable wounds. Cram passed away shortly after arrival, he was attempting to serve an arrest warrant for Ricke at the time of the shooting.
