Key Findings in JCC Student Survey

Fri 3-7-2025

(Jackson) A recent student survey at Jackson County Central (JCC) schools reveals that students generally trust adults in the district and are accepting of people different from themselves, though they face challenges in making friends, coping with difficulties, and persevering through setbacks.

Key findings include:

  • Trust in adults: 100% of surveyed third graders reported having at least one adult at school they feel comfortable approaching for help.

  • Acceptance of differences: 70.5% of high school students indicated they accept people different from themselves, which district leaders see as encouraging.

  • Friendship struggles: Less than 50% of Pleasantview Elementary and middle school students reported consistently forming friendships, possibly due to the rise of digital communication.

  • Coping skills: Over half of third graders struggle to manage difficulties, suggesting a need for stronger coping mechanisms.

  • Perseverance challenges: About one-third of all students indicated they would not try again after failing to reach an important goal.

District leaders are analyzing these results, alongside staff and parent surveys, to refine JCC’s strategic plan, with implementation expected in the next school year.
