Jackson Holiday Fest has Officially Begun

Holiday Fest is here with the theme “Merry and Bright” here in Jackson. 

The Friday schedule gets rolling at 3:00 p.m. as families can visit with Santa at the Historic State Theater. There is a free family Christmas classic double feature there as well featuring A Charlie Brown Christmas and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas starting at 4:00 p.m. 

The Jackson Center for the Arts is hosting a holiday market from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. as well. 

Doors open at 5:30 at the JCC Performing Arts Center for the Cool Yule Holiday Tour with Emmy-winning vocalist Shaun Johnson and the Big Band Experience taking the stage at 7:00 p.m. 

The Holiday Market Craft Vendor Fair opens at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and remains open until 2:00 p.m. inside the JCC High School Auxiliary Gym. That event features the market itself plus Melynda Tracey playing the Christmas piano and Santa’s Workshop from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. More visits with Santa will happen there as well from noon to 2:00 p.m. 

Salem Lutheran Church is hosting the Jingle Jog Fun Run/Walk at 9:00 a.m., cookie decorating until 11 a.m., and a hot lunch fundraiser from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

There is a free movie matinee featuring The Muppet Christmas Carol at 2:00 p.m. inside the Historic State Theater. The Jackson Center for the Arts has free make and take ornaments and games starting at 4:15 p.m. 

Parade participants will start lining up at 4:45 p.m. There is a special performance by the South Dakota Aerial and Arts Circus at 5:00 p.m. on Main Street. The parade begins at 5:30 p.m. with fireworks to follow. American Legion Post #130 has a tater tot hot dish meal fundraiser and Lynn Mullins live music after the parade as well.
