(Jackson)- The Jackson Health Care Foundation is now accepting applications for grants for local area healthcare projects...

Jackson Healthcare Foundation

Started as a local donation for a hospital, the foundation has turned into a community foundation to hand out grants for local healthcare projects. In the last few years the foundation has handed out nearly $200,000 in grants for local projects, and hopes the community will have more projects for them to give money to.

Ron Anderson of the foundation talked about some of the things that the foundation will help fund...

“I mean community gardens, ramps so people can get in and out of their house, the sports up at the high school. So we put in defibrillators, the training room they needed some equipment up there, we've done that, the fire department, ambulance department, things that they need to serve our community we've done grants for that.”

The foundation does much of their work in Jackson and the surrounding area, Anderson explains...

“Yeah the Jackson community within reach, and the Jackson community isn't city proper all the time. Sometimes there's a project that's out in the county parks.”

The foundation is accepting grant applications from October 15th until November 15th, so if you or someone you know is looking for funds for a healthcare related project either at home or for the community you can apply for a grant from the Jackson Health Care Foundation either by going to their Facebook page or calling 507-227-1078.
