ILCC Awards Just Shy Of $400,000 In Scholarships

Tue 11-16-2021

Iowa Lakes Students have been awarded $339,013 in scholarships thanks to the Last Dollar Scholarship program. The money went to 198 students enrolled in career and technical programs for the Fall 2021 term.

The Last Dollar Scholarship program tries to fill tuition gaps which are not covered by other federal or state grants, especially in high-demand industries. As a result, these scholarships can help students have minimal debt when they enter the workforce and obtain jobs.

To quality, students must register for specific college programs in four different industries: health care and bio-sciences, information technology, advanced manufacturing production, installation, maintenance, and construction and engineering.

Iowa Lakes offers many qualifying majors, one of the reasons for the high dollar amount of scholarships awarded, and Director of Financial Aid at Iowa Lakes Stephen Pelzer is encouraging any students interested in these majors who wants to graduate debt free to look into the program.
