(Delft)- A former church building that has recently been used as housing burned to the ground over the weekend, with the blaze starting on Friday in Delft in Carson Township in Cottonwood County. When the Windom Fire Department arrived on the scene, the building was already in flames. They say that if not for the actions of nearby hunters who banged on windows and doors of the building that the residents of the former church may not have made it out with their lives.

The department was called out at 6:20 am, and they arrived around 10 minutes later, but the structure was already doomed by that time. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze and prevent nearby buildings from receiving damage.
