Federated has helped local county fair boards out with some funding, which they will use to perform some much needed maintenance...

Federated Rural Electric has coordinated matching funds to donate $7,500 to assist local county fair boards. The Jackson County Fair Board and the Martin County Fair Board both received this funding, which they will use to help with maintenance of some of the on site buildings. Federated’s Andrea Christoffer explained how the funding was gathered…

“We took advantage of some matching funds from two organizations that we’re affiliated with, so that’s the reason for these large donations. So Federated donated $2,500 and then CoBank has a sharing success program which is one of our long-term financers, and then also Basin Electric cooperative is one of our wholesale power suppliers so by the time you put all three of those together you can really make a donation.”

Christoffer also talked about how Federated got the idea to get these donations together…

“We also have our Operation Roundup Program and I saw an application come through for the Jackson County Fair Board and then that got me thinking, wow I bet the fair boards, you know they always have maintenance issues and without having a fair last year, per se, that they probably didn’t have the revenues that they usually get to do some of this building maintenance.”

The fair boards will use the funding for that building maintenance, the Jackson County Fair Board will use it to fix the Olson Pavilion and the Martin County Fair Board wants to upgrade the outdoor lighting by the horse barn to LED’s, as well as fix much of the lighting throughout the fairgrounds.
