(Fairmont)- Friday will see a new event in Fairmont, a battle of the bands which is coming thanks to the Fairmont Opera House. The Bacontown Throwdown as it's known will be a two night event with five different musical groups from Minnesota, and the goal is to find local entertainers for the event.

The event doubles as a contest which will be judged by four judges, and the winning band will be the headliner at the Opera House New Year's Eve Party. Besides that, they'll also get to record a live album at the location.

The organization is also seeking feedback on this year's event to see if it is something the community wants for future years.
