City Of Windom Conducts Feasibility Study For Possible Pool
(Windom)- The City of Windom is looking for options for their own pool, with a feasibility study coming into their city council recently. Windom City Administrator Steve Nasby explained the study…
“The Parks and Rec Commission in Windom requested some funding to do a pool feasibility study. We’ve had a conditions study done several years ago and this is kind of taking the next step forward, looking to see what a future pool may look like. Those dollars were awarded by the council for I think it’s $12,900 to move forward, the city has engaged a consultant to start that feasibility study process.”
Nasby says the council approved their budget at the end of December and that this is the next step in the process, and now they will try to identify a community group to be the guiding hand in the process of what the community wants. He also spoke about the potential need for a vote on the funding of a pool…
“When the discussion on the pool feasibility study was done at the council, and when they approved the contract for the consultant, there was not a formal vote or anything but there was some consensus with the council that as this process moves forward if they eventually get to the point of wanting to construct a new facility that the majority of the council seemed interested in having some sort of referendum.”
While the process is still at its beginning, says Nasby, this year could see a lot of progress moving forward on the pool up in Windom.
