American Red Cross Needs Extra Blood During Holiday Season

Mon 11-13-2023

(Undated)- The shortage of blood in the country continues to be a concern for health professionals. Over the years, certain types of blood have seen shortages but right now, all types are badly needed to save lives.

Blood donations are especially critical not only as we get into the slippery roads season, but holidays as well, with travelers making their way to see friends and family. That travel also means less donations by potential donors. During this time, donors are especially urged to give, especially type O blood donors and those giving platelets.

The American Red Cross asks for anyone who can donate to consider it. A few chances for donations are coming up in our area, with blood drives at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Jackson on the 16th and 17th, hours on the 16th are 1 pm to 6 pm and the 17th from 8 am to 1 pm.
