Additional Details into the Death of Estherville Man

(Estherville)– Court documents are providing some additional details into the death of an Estherville man who’s body was found this past Saturday along a road in rural Emmet county.

19-year-old Connor Ude of Estherville and 18-year-old CeJay Van Der Wilt of Rockwell City have each been charged with 1st degree murder in the death of David McDowell.

According to court documents, on October 1st Uhde and Van Der Wilt lured McDowell to an apartment in Estherville with a plan to kill him. The documents say that in the early morning hours of October 2nd, McDowell was taken to the area near the intersection of 110th Street and 440th Avenue where investigators say McDowell was shot and killed. His body was found the next morning.

Uhde and Van Der Wilt were both taken into custody Wednesday after authorities executed search warrants on their respective residences. They’re being held without bond.
