Williamson Makes Solid MLB Return in Thrilling Reds Win
Wed 9-4-2024

Martin County West graduate Brandon Williamson returned to the mound as the Cincinnati Reds starter over the weekend.
Williamson was on a pitch limit but he and the bullpen gave the Reds exactly what they needed in a 4-3 walk-off home win over the Milwaukee Brewers in 11 innings.
Williamson tossed 3 1/3 innings in a no-decision. He gave up two earned runs and four hits with no walks and five strikeouts while throwing 66 pitches and 44 of those were strikes.
Williamson retired his first seven batters in order and struck out the side in the top of the second inning.
Williamson had some setbacks after a left shoulder strain forced the Reds to shut him down in mid-March during Spring Training. He made four rehab starts in the Minors but continued soreness led to doctors discovering a Bennett lesion in his shoulder.
Williamson opted for injections and therapy instead of season-ending surgery. He also put on 15 pounds along with adding strength to his hips so he could put less stress on his shoulder.
Williamson now has a chance to make a showing ahead of the battle for rotation spots in 2025.
