SEATTLE - Martin County West graduate Brandon Williamson is on the list of 60 players that the Seattle Mariners have invited for the resumption of spring training this week.
Players are to report for physicals and testing at T-Mobile Park by Wednesday. Workouts are set to start on Friday at T-Mobile Park. The season will start July 23 or 24.
Players who aren't on the final 30-man roster are expected to be sent to nearby Tacoma to stay ready.
Williamson, now 6-foot-6 and 210 pounds, will likely not pitch for the Mariners this year.
The club placed Williamson and several of their other top prospects on the 60-man list for purpose of continuing their development with the traditional minor league season expected to be canceled.
Seattle selected Williamson with the 59th overall pick in the 2019 draft.
He was with the Short Season Class A Everett Aqua Sox last season.
In 15.1 innings, Williamson had a 2.35 earned-run average, striking out 25. He allowed nine hits and walked five.
