The LCWM boys golf team placed first in the Valley Conference championships yesterday at Fox Lake GC. They shot a 350 and the second-place team, Alden-Conger shot a 351. MCW placed third with a 357. Hunter Schmidt led the Mavericks with a 77 while Mitch Weber shot an 81 on the day. Schmidt earned medalist honors and Weber earned runner up medalist honors on the day. St. Clair, Madelia and GHEC/T/ML finished in 4th, 5th and 6th respectively. 

Alden Conger won the girls division shooting a 458. Madelia was 2nd with a 467, MCW 501 and LCWM 528. Madelia’s Katherine DeVlaeminck earned medalist honors by shooting a 99. Alexa Schultze placed 7th and was the highest finisher for the Mavericks with a 119. Teammate Brenna Heifner generated a 121 to claim an all-conference bid in eighth place.

Martin County West and Madelia will tee it up next Tuesday for Day 1 of the girls’ Section 2A Meet at North Links Golf Course in Mankato before the MCW, Madelia and Truman/GHEC/ Martin Luther boys teams open sectional play at North Links on Thursday, June 1.
