Schatz and Thram Earn Jackson Nationals Titles in Finale

Mon 8-19-2024

Donny Schatz and Christopher Thram are FENDT Jackson Nationals champions after winning on Saturday during the 46th edition of the marquee event at Jackson Motorplex.

Schatz led gate-to-wire in the 35-lap World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series main event to record the $25,000 top prize. It is his first Jackson Nationals title since 2018 and fourth career World of Outlaws victory at the track.

Schatz avoided a crash on Lap 12 and stayed strong in traffic all night long. Sheldon Haudenschild ran out of time in second place after making up more than 1.5 seconds in the final three laps. David Gravel finished third for the second straight night to maintain the lead in the World of Outlaws championship standings.

Thram led the final two thirds of the 25-lap Gunderson Racing Inc. Midwest Sprint Touring Series 360 Sprint Cars A Main to take home $5,000.

Blaine Stegenga held the top spot for the first nine laps before finishing a career-best third at Jackson Motorplex. Aaron Reutzel drove up to second place. He drew the pole position during the feature redraw and took the FENDT 8 for 8 Grand Challenge that would have provided him a $3,000 bonus if he could win the race from eighth.

Brandon Bosma earned the Jackson Nationals title on Friday in the Wyffels Hybrids RaceSaver Sprint Car Series presented by Heser Auto & Detailing.

That is the season finale at Jackson Motorplex with 2025 dates to be announced.
