The #4 ranked Martin County West boys' basketball team got the win over #5 Springfield last night in the first round of South Sub-Section Section 2A with a final score of 75 to 58. Zach Anderson had 28 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocked shots on the night while Mitch Weber tossed in 25 and also had seven rebounds, four assists and 3 blocked shots. Hunter Schmidt had 9 points including a couple clutch 3 pointers towards the end of the game. USC defeated Madelia 70 to 29 and that is who the Mavericks will face in the second round. The game is currently scheduled for Thursday at 6:00 pm at St. Peter High School. We will have to see if the weather changes anything and we will update you as soon as we know.
