Martin County West ended their season with a 21 to 7 loss to Springfield in the Section 3A football playoffs on Saturday. The Mavericks just could not get anything going on offense in the first half as Springfield’s 21 points all came in the first half. The Mavericks held the Tigers in the second half and were able to score when Zach Anderson punched it in from a yard out on a quarterback keeper. Wyatt Williamson kicked the extra point. Joseph Forsberg had 76 yards on 19 carries, Rylan Cutler had 31 yards on 8 carries while Anderson carried it 8 times for 23 yards. Max Olson had a game-best 12 tackles and a fumble recovery, Williamson had 9 tackles and an interception, while Cutler had one interception and six tackles. MCW finishes the season at 7 and 3 overall.
