The Martin County West football home opener is Friday night against Adrian-Ellsworth.

The Mavericks and Dragons are both 0-1 still looking to score their first points and win of the season. MCW lost 21-0 at Canby last Friday. Adrian-Ellsworth took a 48-0 loss against Springfield in week one. Mavericks head coach Tom Elliott says they are looking to turn the page and focus on a new opportunity. 

“You always want to protect home so the first game there’s always excitement and a different feel. It’s the first week of kids being in the building and kids coming out after a school day and seeing the home field right next to our practice facility and it should. It should have them ready to roll. Hopefully we’ll come out and be ready to play some football,” Elliott says.
