TRIMONT - Martin County West cancelled the remainder of its volleyball season Wednesday prior to the shutdown of high school and youth sports ordered by Gov. Tim Walz.

The school says the cancellation was due to a COVID risk and conversations with Minnesota Department of Health.

The Mavericks finished their season with a 2-7 record.

In the Valley Conference Thursday, Madelia is at Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial, Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton plays at Nicollet, Mankato Loyola goes to St. Clair and Alden-Conger will be at Cleveland.

Valley Conference Showcase matches will then be played on Friday, with the matchups to be determined at the conclusion of Thursday's matches.
