Mavericks Open Season With Coach Traetow's First Win

The Martin County West baseball team opened the season with a milestone win on the road.
MCW collected 13 hits to help beat Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey 6-2 and give new Mavericks head coach Jon Traetow his first career win.
The Mavs grabbed the 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Lucas Larson batted in Preston Cepress with a double and Larson later scored on a Maddex Faber sacrifice fly.
The Wolverines tied the game in the fifth with runs on a sacrifice hit and an error.
MCW responded with four more runs in the top of the sixth. Faber plated Eli Owens with an RBI single. Brennan Ringnell smacked a single to score Faber. Ringnell and Noah Meixell scored on a two-run single by Cepress.
Lucas Larson went the distance for MCW with neither of the runs being earned on five hits. He also tossed eight strikeouts and walked two batters in the win.
The 1-0 Mavericks visit Madelia on Monday.
