Laker basketball teams have split day

ESTHERVILLE - The Iowa Lakes Community College basketball teams split their games at separate sites Saturday.
At home, the NJCAA Division II 17th-ranked Laker men were 88-81 winners over Dakota County. Meanwhile, the ILCC women lost 61-53 to Southeastern in West Burlington.
ILCC's men improved their record to 13-3 with their home win.
Alan Kikwaki led the Lakers with 27 points. Justin Brookens added 20 points, with Malcolm Clayton scoring 17. Clayton led the team in rebounds with seven.
In the women's game, Breanna Wendland led Iowa Lakes with 13 points, with Shareece Smith scoring 11.
Both ILCC teams head to Mason City Wednesday to take NIACC. The Trojan men are rated fourth in the country and the women sixth.
