Lady Jays second in coaches poll

WINONA - Minnesota West has been picked to finish second in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference Southern Division women's basketball race in a poll of league coaches.

Jackson County Central graduate Melissa Brandt is a 5-foot-10 freshman post for the Lady Jays.

Anoka-Ramsey is first, picking up five of the possible six first-place votes. Third-place Western Technical received the other first-place vote.

In the men's poll, Minnesota West is tied for fifth. Rochester is first.

Both Minnesota West teams open their season at home Tuesday vs. the Mount Marty JV. The conference opener is at home Jan. 8 vs. Riverland.
