Knox Larson, Heifner Lead Mavericks in Conference Events

Knox Larson earned eighth place to lead the Martin County West boys golf team at the Tomahawk Valley Conference Tournament #2 event at Sleepy Eye Golf Club on Monday. 

Larson posted a score of 81 on 18 holes to finish seven strokes off the lead and nine above par. 

Kale Larson shot 89 to tie for 17th place, Carson Scheff shot 103 as part of a three-way tie for 47th place, Josh Roben shot 117 for 55th place, and Isaak Engstrom shot 120 for 57th place. 

MCW collected 398 for ninth place in the team scores ahead of Wabasso with 438. Sleepy Eye United posted the best boys team score of 314. New Ulm Cathedral had 348, GHEC/T/ML had 360, and Springfield had 363. Cedar Mountain and Alden-Conger tied for fifth place with 366. G-F-W had 369 and Madelia had 372. Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart was incomplete. 

Brenna Heifner posted 104 on 18 holes to finish 12th place and lead the girls in Springfield. 

Morgan McCorkell shot 111 to tie for 22nd place, Clare Paulson shot 119 for 34th place, Aaliyah Bolstad shot 123 to 38th place, Mya Smith shot 132 for 50th place, and Ariel Freeman shot 139 for 52nd place. 

The MCW girls collected 457 as a team score in seventh place. Sleepy Eye United posted 371 for the best girls team score ahead of Springfield with 406, Alden-Conger with 431, Cedar Mountain with 450, Madelia with 451, and New Ulm Cathedral with 456. G-F-W shot 470, Wabasso shot 475, and GHEC/T-ML shot 505 behind MCW. Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart was incomplete. 

The Mavericks visit Madelia on Friday along with Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial and St. Clair.
