Karson Kent Janssen Memorial Hoops for Heart Event is Set for Tonight
The Martin County West girls and boys' basketball teams are in action tonight in Trimont at the MCW Elementary School. The girls will play GFW while the boys will take on Mankato Loyola. The Crusaders are currently ranked #9 in Class 1A according to the MN Basketball Hub. Tonight, is the night the Karson Kent Janssen Memorial Hoops for Heart Event is being held to honor the memory of Karson Janssen. Karson passed away last November from an undetected heart disease. Karson is a former MCW student who also played basketball and baseball at MCW. He was a sophomore at the U of M where he was studying agriculture. There is a silent auction, a bake sale and many other activities going on tonight to raise money for the Karson Kent Janssen Memorial Fund. The Mission and values of the fund are to encourage a positive lifestyle grounded in faith and to live out Karson’s motto which was Be Nice, Be Neat, Be Humble. All proceeds raised will be utilized for scholarships, grief support and heart health education. Doors open at 3:45. The girl's b-squad game will start at 4:15.
