JCC Wrestling Faced Tough Competition at The Clash

The Jackson County Central wrestling team traveled to LaCrosse, WI for the Clash and ended up with 1st place in the B bracket on Friday to move on to the round robin style championship bracket on Saturday. Nolan Ambrose, Kie Anderson, Payton Handevidt, Caleb Vancura and Cameron Scholten were all 3-0 on Friday, with Anderson and Vancura both getting three pins. On day #2 the Huskies ended up losing all 3 matches in the championship bracket but they were matches against top teams in their respective classes and states. The Huskies lost to the #1 ranked team in Class 3A in MN, St. Michael Albertville, by a score of 45 to 18. The next match against #8 Vacaville out of California was 38 to 22 and they lost to the #1 team in class 3A in Iowa, Waverly Shell rock, 35 to 28. Caleb Vancura and Nolan Ambrose both went undefeated for the weekend and were also named to the all tournament team. Will Freking went 5 and one while Matthew Haley, Payton Handevidt and Kie Anderson all went 4-2 on the weekend. Head coach Nate Hanson tweeted out that they were the first Class A team from MN to ever make it to the championship bracket of the Clash and that he is very proud of how everyone performed this past weekend. The Huskies are in action on Thursday when they host Windom/Mt. Lake Area and then they travel to Adrian/Ellsworth. We will have coverage of both matches on KKOJ.
