Wed 5-17-2023

It was a Senior night to remember at the JCC softball field last night as the Huskies softball team pulled off the upset of the season by defeating the Fairmont Cardinals 1-0. The Huskies honored 6 seniors, Brittany Tufvesson, Alexis O’Reilly, Morgan Preuss, Lilly Sexton, Melody Janzen and Brooklyn Stenzel, prior to a game against BSC rival and the #9 ranked team in Class AA. The game went into extra innings and in the bottom of the 10th, freshman Bailey Finck hit a walk off home run off of D1 commit to SE Missouri State University, Tegan Livesay. It would be the only hit the Huskies would get against Livesay who had 25 strikeouts on the night. The Wachal sisters were able to control the Cardinals with their stellar pitching as Hadley Wachal only allowed three hits and struck out 9 batters in 7 innings before Mady came in and finished off the last 3 innings. Mady allowed just two hits and struck out 3. The Cardinals drop to 16-2 on the season while the Huskies are now The Huskies played great defense throughout the night to help preserve the game. JCC plays a round robin style tournament today. They start at 10 am against Murray County Central then play New York Mills at noon and finish off with Worthington at 2.
