JCC Cross Country Team

The Jackson County Central Huskies boys and girls cross country teams went to Luverne for a meet on Saturday. Andrew Boyum brought home first place with a time of 17:29.40. Evan Paplow placed 3rd with a time of 17:46.50. Nolan Ambrose broke the top 20 finishers by placing 17th with at time of 19:54.20.  The Huskies placed 3rd as a team while Luverne and Mt. Lake Area placed 1st and 2nd.  Head Coach Raef York says the boys team has a shot at state.   York Cut 1 

 

 “We finished 7th at Sections last year and I think the boys came away kind of disappointed from that so it was definitely a goal for them to finish in the top 2 and get to state.”

 

Olivia Anderson was the highest finisher for the girls team placing 8th with a time of 22:48.90 and Elise Paplow, who also plays volleyball had a time of 22.50.40 which was good for 9th place. Bailee Pohlman ran a  time of 22:50.40 good enough for 15th overall.  Luverne, Redwood Valley and Mt. Lake Area Comfrey were the top three teams for the meet.   York cut 2 

 

“On the girls side we know we're young. Our team is going to be, when it comes section time, its going to be basically four or five freshman and a junior and senior. Its about finishing as high as we can and doing as well as we can.”

 

Next up the for both the Huskies boys and girls teams is their invitational at Loon Lake Golf Course on September 23rd. Other top finishers in the area for the boys were Jamesson Forsberg from Martin County West who placed 2nd overall and Riley Cole, also from MCW placed 18th. Katie Hartke placed 3rd overall for the girls team from MCW. She finished with a time of 21:23. Katelyn Kennedy from MCW placed 16th overall while Liz Peterson finished in 23rd place for the Mavericks. In the girls team standings it was Luverne, Redwood Valley and Mt. Lake area rounding out the top 3 spots.
