JCC Boys Outlast Fairmont, Girls Lose Fifth Straight

The Jackson County Central basketball teams split their Friday night doubleheader in Fairmont.
RECAP:
The JCC boys trailed by as many as 11 during the first half before rallying to a 12-point lead of their own and then managed to hang on 52-49 over the Cardinals.
Weston Rowe dropped a game-high 23 points for the Huskies.
Grant Freking joined him in double figures with 16 points.
Aivan Famer added six points. Thomas Liepold and Carter Buhl each scored two points. Carson Pohlman, Thomas Sether, and Blaise Rowe each made a free throw.
Huskies head coach Alex Hein says they won the tough conference road game despite not playing their best.

The 6-0 Huskies have their Alumni Night next Friday before heading to the Holiday Classic at SMSU during the final days of 2024.
The JCC girls rallied to tie Fairmont during the first half but lost their fifth straight game 68-48 on a night where Cardinals junior Brylee Miller surpassed 1,000 career points while dropping 39 to lead any and all scorers.
Rylie Cother led the Huskies with 25 points. Zadi Farmer added 13 points off the bench. Kylee Wenzel put in four points. Paylin Sether, Madelyn Rowe, and Payton Coquyt each scored two points.

The 3-5 Huskies are headed to the Holiday Classic at SMSU next weekend.
