JCC Boys Basketball Gives ELC a Battle

Tue 1-11-2022

The JCC boys basketball team fought hard and got the score to within 4 points in the second half but Estherville Lincoln Central had an answer for every surge the Huskies produced. ELC won the game 81 to  70. JCC head coach Alex Hein says there are some good things they can take away from this game. hein cut 1

"I thought we did the things we worked on in practice really well, especially offensively. We had a really offensive game tonight. Defensively ya know that Larson kid is so tough, he made so many tough shots. Thought we did a good job on him especially in the 2nd half. Ya know we cut it to four. Ya know we fought back, this team always fights back so I wasn't surprised by that."

Erik Hesebeck led the Huskies with 30 points and really played well underneath on both ends of the floor. Travis Rogtozske had 18 points on the night while Damien Phaly and Roman Voss both had 8 points. Leading the way for ELC was Owen Larson with 30 points while Blake Ingvall and Ryan Schiltz both had 13 and Adrian Vaugh had 12 for the Midgets. The Huskies travel to Marshall tonight and then on Friday host Luverne which will be another double header with the girls team. Coach Hein talks about the rest of the week. hein cut 2

"Ya know Marshall is gonna have a lot of size so very opposite of what we saw tonight. But their gonna play with a lot of size and they're gonna press and so we're gonna have to take care of the ball. And then we got two days of practice in a row before a big section game with Luverne. Luverne is going to press us too. they got a lot of length as well but they don't score the ball as well. They like to keep the game in the 50's so the rest of the week the key has to be taking care of the ball."

Friday night all veterans of the armed forces, active and retired, will gain free admittance to the girls and boys games. A Special ceremony will precede the girls game which is scheduled to start at 6pm.
