WORTHINGTON - Iowa Lakes took both ends of a basketball doubleheader from Minnesota West Saturday, winning the women's game 71-61 and the men's 93-89.

In the women's game, Breanna Wendland (Minneapolis) led the Lakers with 23 points. Samantha Hagedorn (Bancroft) scored 17 points, Shareece Smith (Fort Dodge) 13 and Safiyer Coleman (Denver) 11.

Avery Van Roekel (Beaver Creek) led the Lady Jays with 16 points, Haley Unke (Cottonweood) 12 and Emily Schroer (Fulda) 11.

Iowa Lakes is 7-1, while Minnesota West is 2-5.

In the men’s game, ILCC had four players finished score in double digits, led by Equan Ards (Milwaukee) with 24 points.

Boston Grimes (Johnston) scored 15 points, Lamontae Lewis (Racine, Wis.) 12 and Kevin Jennings (Grand Prairie, Tex.) 11. Solomon Clayton (Fort Dodge) grabbed 12 rebounds.

Deshawn Pickford (Minneapolis) led the Bluejays in scoring scoring 24 points, Manny Akot (Sioux Falls) scored 18 and Jaimon Cheek (Waldorf, MD) 14.

Iowa Lakes is 6-1, while Minnesota West is 2-2.

Both ILCC teams host the Dakota Wesleyan JV Monday. Minnesota West's teams are at home vs. Rainy River Friday.
