The Jackson County Central girls’ basketball team pulled away from Windom 79-64 on the road Friday to sweep the Eagles in the regular season.

Rylie Cother poured in a game-high 31 points with 19 in the second half. Kylee Wenzel added 16 with great rebounding effort all night long. Brylee Anderson had 13 to join them in double digits and helped create some second-half turnovers by Windom.

Paylin Sether scored eight points, Madelyn Rowe had seven, Megan Benson hit a key three-point shot, and Aliza Liepold had one. The Huskies led by 15 in the first half but the Eagles rallied to tie it at 39 at the break.

Huskies head coach Rafe York says halftime adjustments were made loud and clear.

JCC eventually built another lead of 18 points during the second half to take control.

The 13-5 Huskies return home to host Fairmont with the boys doing the same during a doubleheader on Monday.

It’s hometown heroes night at JCC with all active and retired military and first responders getting in free and getting a coupon for the concession stand. Jackson American Legion Post #130 will present the colors before the girls tip-off at 6:00 with the boys game to follow.
