Huskies Overwhelm Windom Area at Home

The Jackson County Central softball team dismantled Windom Area during Tuesday’s home doubleheader.

The Huskies beat the Eagles 9-0 in the first game. 

Hadley Wachal went the distance for JCC with 12 strikeouts and only three hits allowed. 

JCC broke the scoreless tie with four runs in the third inning, added one more in the fourth, and had another four in the fifth. 

The Huskies loaded the bases in the third before Bailey Finck hit a line drive into center field with CJ Pauling, Mady Wachal, and Braelyn Boogerd scoring on an error. Clara Brinks scored as a courtesy runner for Finck on another error. 

Boogerd drove in Lauren Johnson with an RBI single in the fourth. 

JCC loaded the bases again in the fifth. Kinley VanDeVere scored on an error by the catcher. Brielle Tufvesson hit a double later in the frame with Brinks and Hadley Wachal scoring on an error during that play. Miley VanDeVere plated Tufvesson with an RBI double to finish the scoring in the first game. 

The Huskies collected 15 hits and overwhelmed the Eagles 19-5 in the second game. 

JCC scored two in the first, one in the second, three in the third, six in the sixth, and seven in the seventh. Windom scored one run in the fourth and fifth plus three in the sixth. 

Miley VanDeVere batted in five runs and Hadley Wachal plated three runs. Lauren Johnson and Brielle Mouw each brought in a pair of runs. Johnson and Julia Bidne each scored three runs as well. 

Mady Wachal earned the win by allowing two runs with one of them earned on three hits in five innings. She also had eight strikeouts and four walks. Brielle Mouw surrendered three earned runs on two hits. She also dealt her first career varsity strikeout and three walks. 

The Eagles committed 11 total errors in the doubleheader. 

The 3-0 Huskies are scheduled to host Blue Earth Area on Thursday.
