Huskies Hosting Big South Conference Tournament

Wrestlers from 14 different teams are invading Jackson County Central High School on Saturday for the Big South Conference Tournament. 

The Huskies are ranked #8 in the latest Class A poll by The Guillotine. 

Izzy Moonen is the first ranked girl in program history with the #10 spot at 124 pounds. 

Isaac Rodriguez at 121 pounds and Kyler Thier at 127 pounds are each ranked #2 in the state. Kayden Eller is ranked #5 at 114 pounds and collected his 100th career win on Thursday night. Ryan Haley is ranked #10 at 189 pounds. 

Eller and Rodriguez are both two-time all-conference wrestlers. Thier and Haley both earned all-conference honors last year. Eller, Thier, and Rodriguez each finished second with Haley earning third. 

The Martin County Red Bulls will be among the teams competing as well. 

Pierce Rohman is ranked #4 at 127 pounds, Torrey Paplow is #5 at 145 pounds, and Maddex Faber is #8 at 160 pounds in Class AA. 

Paplow, Rohman, and Bear Kosbab all finished runner-up in the conference last year. 

The top three varsity boys at each weight will be all-conference along with 14 more at-large wrestlers. 

The girls champion at each weight plus three at-large wrestlers will earn all-conference honors.

Tickets are available at the door with a cost of $5 for students and $7 for adults. Doors open at 9:15 a.m. with action starting at 10:00 a.m.
