Huskies Clean House Against Windom

The Jackson County Central basketball teams completed a clean regular season sweep of Windom Area at home on Tuesday night.

The JCC boys trailed for much of the first half but regained the lead 42-36 at halftime and turned the second half into a rout before collecting the 88-73 win. 

Grant Freking dropped 32 points to lead the Huskies. Weston Rowe scored 19 points and Aiven Farmer added 10 points. 

Ben Gallagher scored nine points. Roman Voss returned to the starting lineup from his injury during football season and scored seven points. Mason Foster also scored seven points. Carson Pohlman and Thomas Liepold each had two points.

The 18-2 Huskies will host Redwood Valley on Friday and we will have that game on KKOJ.   

The JCC girls tied a school record with their 13th straight win. The Huskies and Eagles were tied at 26 during halftime. JCC opened up a seven-point advantage for the largest lead by either team during the second half before hanging on for the 67-64 win.

Huskies head coach Rafe York says turning defense into offense was vital in a very physical game. 

Huskies eighth grader Kinley VanDeVere helped lead that defensive effort in several key moments. 

VanDeVere also scored a pair of free throws during the game. 

Rylie Cother led all scorers on the night with 37 points. Zadi Farmer added nine points. Brylee Anderson made a few clutch shots and finished with eight points. Paylin Sether had six points, Madelyn Rowe had four points, and Aliza Liepold scored one point. 

The Huskies are now 16-6 overall with a visit to Waseca up next on Friday.
