Fri 10-11-2024

The Jackson County Central football team overcame plenty of adversity to blank Luverne 38-0 on the road in a rivalry clash of undefeated teams on Thursday night.

Roman Voss found Aiven Farmer wide open over the middle from 47 yards out to start the scoring. Voss forced a fumble which Farmer recovered on the first Cardinals play from scrimmage.

Voss left the game after making that hit but later returned mainly as a running and receiving threat. The Huskies also had to play without starting middle linebacker Ian Titterington.

Luverne recovered a JCC fumble to stop that second Huskies drive. Tavion Diggs blocked the next Cardinals punt and nearly got to several others on the night. Farmer got on top of the loose ball to put JCC at the one yard line. Farmer and the Huskies defensive line collected six sacks while harassing Cardinals quarterbacks all night long.

Gage Johnson punched in the TD and JCC led 12-0 after the first quarter.

Clay Malchow put another rushing touchdown on the board from 15 yards away early in the second quarter. Grant Freking made an interception on a tipped pass to take the ball back for the Huskies. JCC backup QB Evan Bartholomaus found regular starter Roman Voss for the 43-yard touchdown strike that made the halftime score 24-0 Huskies.

Voss ran for an eight-yard TD during the third quarter. Malchow rushed in from 14 yards out early in the fourth.

Kason Farmer made a fumble recovery late as well.

Huskies head coach Tom Schuller says they got tested beyond anything they expected and still found a way to win big.
