Huskies 13-5 After Escaping St. James

Mon 2-5-2024

The Jackson County Central boys basketball team held off St. James Area 80-75 on the road Saturday night.

The Huskies led early but the Saints rallied to tie the game before JCC led at the half. The game went back and forth in the second half and JCC eventually escaped to improve to 13-5 on the season.

Huskies head coach Alex Hein says they need to find their rhythm again after being up and down recently.

"Our consistency on defense. We have games where we don't make many free throws and then tonight we shot really well. We've had some high turnover games. It's just about doing all of those things better more consistently. We haven't had much practice right now and we play again on Monday. I wish we would have some practice time just so we can focus on some of this stuff," says Hein.

Roman Voss finished with 31 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Weston Rowe had 26 points and six rebounds. Grant Freking posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds plus four assists. Aiven Farmer pulled down 11 rebounds to go along with a trio of points and assists. Ben Gallagher added four points. Carson Pohlman and Thomas Liepold each scored three points.
