Hungry Huskies Begin State Against Defending AA Champ

Wed 3-20-2024

Jackson County Central invades the Target Center on Wednesday night as the boys' basketball team begins the Class AA State Tournament.

It’s an all-Huskies quarterfinal showdown against the defending state champion Albany. JCC head coach Alex Hein says their 28-2 opponent that has won 22 straight games is not the most spectacular squad but is rock-solid fundamentally. JCC is 21-7 overall and Coach Hein says they want to keep executing like they have to get seven straight wins and the section championship.

Coverage begins at 5:45 with the tip-off at 6:00 p.m. inside the Target Center on your hometown Huskies station, KKOJ.

The next opponent will be either #3 Lake City or unseeded Pelican Rapids. If JCC wins on Wednesday, they will play on Friday at 8 p.m. at Williams Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota. If JCC loses, they will play on Thursday at 8 p.m. at Concordia University.

The Huskies could also play in the consolation championship game on Friday. They could play in the championship or third-place game on Saturday as well depending on their game results.

The other half of the bracket features #1 Breck against Waseca and #4 Pequot Lakes against #5 Minnehaha Academy.
