Hanna Geistfeld receives All American honor

Wed 5-19-2021

Hanna Geistfeld, who is a former stand out athlete from Martin Luther High School, was just named to the Division 3 All American second team. Geistfeld plays basketball for the Bethany Lutheran Vikings and gives the reason why she chose Bethany Lutheran. Geistfeld cut 1 (2)

"I really liked the coaching staff, that's the biggest thing. I wanted to be close to home so that my family could come and watch me and my mom went there. She was very excited that I went there but she really wanted me to go there so I guess that was another reason. But I just wanted to be close to home so that I could still see my family and they could still come to all my games."

Geistfeld will have the chance to play one more full season of basketball for the Vikings. She decided to come back and play next year after the NCAA offered an extra year of eligibility for athletes whose seasons were affected by Covid. Besides wanting the team to make it farther into post season play Geistfeld also has some other goals.

"I want my teammates to remember me as a really good leader and a good captain and a good friend so I hope to demonstrate that to them by working really hard and hopefully achieving a few more goals." Geistfeld cut 2 (2)

Geistfeld helped lead the team to a 9-1 record in a shortened season this year and has had a pretty successful basketball career at Bethany Lutheran. She is #1 in field goals made with 605 and has a field goal percentage of 58.5%. She holds the #2 spot for the Vikings in career points with 1577, free throws made with 353, she is 5th in rebounds with 735 and 10th in assists and blocked shots. The Vikings kick off the season against Carlton College on November 6th.
