Four players from the Jackson County Central football state championship team are on the inaugural Minnesota Star Tribune All-Prep Bowl Team.
A trio of writers made the selections recognizing standout performances in the title games across all classifications.
The list on offense has three Huskies seniors on it. They say quarterback Grant Freking filled in admirably for injured starter Roman Voss. Freking completed 8 of his 12 passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns with two of them to Ben Dahlin in the first half.
Dahlin caught a 67-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter to swing the momentum back to the Huskies’ favor and then added a 69-yard score in the second quarter.
Clay Malchow contributed 197 total yards and three touchdowns plus an interception.
Huskies junior Isaac Hesebeck made the team on defense as well after a first-quarter interception that set up a go-ahead touchdown.
JCC rallied from an early deficit to beat Staples-Motley 42-26 in Class AA Prep Bowl XLII on Friday and become the first unbeaten state champion in school history.
